Most valuable is stopbar followed by Bigsby and then the Gibson Vibrola. The ES-125 evolved out of the ES-100 in 1941 and was produced until 1942. Introduced in 1941 as the successor to the ES-100, the ES-125 was an entry-level archtop electric guitar. Unique to this Year: Continued variation in tailpiece. The Gibson ES-125 is an archtop, hollow body electric guitar model that was produced by the Gibson Guitar Corporation. Those with the stopbar tailpiece are the most desirable to collectors. The ES-335 was introduced in 1958 and has remained in production in various forms ever since. The official model designation of the ES-335 is ES-335TD, with the TD standing for thinline, double pickups. In the early '60s, the ES-335 was produced with either a stopbar tailpiece, a Bigsby tremolo tailpiece, or a vibrola tailpiece. This construction style maintains the open tone of a hollowbody while helping to reduce feedback. The ES-335 is a semi-hollowbody guitar which means that it has a solid block of wood running through its center with hollow wings on either side. In fact, the difference between the 125 and the much more expensive 330 of this era was purely cosmetic – neck binding and double cutaways for the 330 and bigger fret inlays for a while too.Like the Les Paul, the ES-335 stands as one of Gibson's all-time most iconic models. 125s were originally sold as student instruments, but the double pickup put the ES-125 TDC into a higher category altogether. The TDC model blurred the lines between student and professional. The TDC moniker is for thinline double pickup cutaway It is therefore worth less than the 3k these usually bring, making it a really good value vintage Gibson ES-125 TDC guitar. Unfortunately, the pickguard shown in the picture has been removed and lost, so the guitar will be supplied without it (sigh). A strap button has been removed from the upper bout, leaving a hole. The ‘zebra striping’ on the back of the neck is where fine finish lines have appeared in the varnish but this wont deteriorate and is not noticeable when playing. It’s either a transition-period guitar when Gibson were changing from nickel to chrome plating, hence chrome trapeze and nickel tuners, or the chrome trapeze tailpiece is a replacement.
